Choose your videos
Select files from your device or drag them into the workspace. Each accepted item appears in its own row, so you can check the name, source format and size before processing.
GETTRANSFY · VIDEO TOOLS
Convert one video or prepare a batch without sending your files to a conversion server. Choose a separate output for every item, adjust practical settings and download the results to your device.
YOUR CONVERSION WORKSPACE
Add one file or build a conversion queue.
Private by design: the selected video bytes stay on your device. The processing engine is downloaded on the first conversion and then runs inside your browser.
The queue is limited to 1 GB of source media. Browser memory depends on resolution, duration, codec and device RAM, so very large or high-resolution videos may still require a desktop browser or lower output resolution. JavaScript and WebAssembly are required. Long, high-resolution or unusual-codec videos may exceed the memory available to a browser tab. Output support can also vary with the included conversion engine.
A CLEAR THREE-STEP WORKFLOW
Select files from your device or drag them into the workspace. Each accepted item appears in its own row, so you can check the name, source format and size before processing.
Choose MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI or another available result. Open Options to adjust quality, maximum resolution, frame rate, trimming or audio without changing the rest of the queue.
Start the queue and leave the tab open while each file is processed. Download successful results separately, or use Download all after the queue finishes.
WHAT THE TOOL DOES
GetTransfy converts media on the device you are using. Your selected video is copied into a browser-based conversion engine, decoded and written into the output container you choose. The video itself is not sent to a GetTransfy conversion server.
This approach gives you more privacy and avoids an upload wait, but your computer or phone performs the work. Conversion speed therefore depends on video length, resolution, codecs and available memory. A short 720p clip is usually easier to handle than a long 4K recording.
The engine loads only when you start a conversion, keeping the initial page lighter. On its first use, the browser must download the WebAssembly processing files. Leave this tab open until the active item finishes.
FORMAT GUIDE
A container such as MP4 or MKV holds encoded video, audio and sometimes subtitles. Changing the extension alone is not reliable, so this converter rebuilds the result using settings suited to the chosen output.
| Output | Useful for | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| MP4 | Websites, presentations, messaging and general playback. | H.264-style output is widely supported, but a new encode can change file size. |
| WebM | Modern web video and browser-based projects. | Encoding may take longer on some devices. |
| MOV / MKV | Editing hand-offs, desktop playback or flexible containers. | Playback depends on the codecs supported by the receiving app. |
| AVI / FLV / WMV | Older software, legacy systems and specific compatibility requests. | Use only when the destination requires the format. |
QUALITY AND SIZE
Balanced quality is a sensible starting point. A smaller-file preset applies stronger compression, while higher quality retains more detail at the cost of a larger result and more processing time. No preset can recover detail missing from the source.
Resolution controls the number of pixels in each frame. Reducing 4K footage to 1080p can make a result easier to share, but it removes spatial detail. The converter avoids enlarging smaller videos because upscaling adds pixels without restoring genuine sharpness.
Frame rate affects motion. Keep the source rate unless the destination has a specific requirement. Dropping from 60 fps to 30 fps can reduce the work and output size, although fast movement may look less smooth.
BATCH WORKFLOW
Bulk conversion means one organised queue, not simultaneous encoding. GetTransfy processes videos sequentially so the browser is less likely to run out of memory. You can give every row a different format or apply one format to the whole batch.
Very large batches still need care because completed results remain in browser memory until you clear the list or leave the page. Download each successful file and clear the workspace before starting another heavy batch. On phones and older laptops, smaller files and shorter queues are safer.
ACCURATE EXPECTATIONS
Video files may contain several audio tracks, embedded subtitles, chapters, rotation data, colour information, camera metadata and custom attachments. A straightforward conversion focuses on the main video and audio streams. It does not promise to preserve every secondary track or metadata field.
Trimming, resizing or re-encoding can also change timestamps and technical properties. If subtitles, HDR, surround sound or archival metadata are essential, test the result in the destination software before deleting the source. The same advice applies when converting an uncommon or damaged file.
File size is not guaranteed to decrease. A modern source can already be efficiently compressed, while conversion to an older codec may create a larger output. Format compatibility and size are separate decisions, so compare the downloaded result with your actual requirement.
The tool accepts common video containers and can export MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV and WMV video. An uncommon source codec may not be available in the browser engine.
No. Selected media is processed locally in the browser. The conversion engine is downloaded when needed, but your chosen video bytes are not sent to a GetTransfy conversion server.
Yes. Add several files, choose an output for each one and start the queue. Items are processed one at a time to reduce memory pressure.
Video often has to be decoded and encoded frame by frame. Duration, resolution, codec, output settings and device performance all affect processing time.
No. Conversion can change compatibility, dimensions and compression, but it cannot restore real detail already lost from the source. Higher settings mainly reduce additional loss.
This workflow does not promise to preserve metadata, chapters or every subtitle and audio track. Keep the original and inspect the finished file before removing any source.
