YOUR CONVERSION WORKSPACE

Convert HEIC without uploading

Local processing

Select or drop HEIC photos

Add one image or choose several files together.

HEIC and compatible HEIF images · Up to 20 files · 25 MB each

Your files stay on this device. The decoder loads only when needed, then conversion runs locally.

Supported files and practical limits

The native browser picker shows every file so HEIC photos are not hidden by incorrect device MIME types. The tool verifies the actual HEIC/HEIF signature. Decoder code is fetched from a version-pinned CDN only when conversion starts; selected image bytes are not sent to it. A batch may contain 100 MB. Input is limited to 24 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side; JPG output to 16 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Multi-image HEIC and Live Photos produce the first still only; motion, depth and metadata are not retained.

Your HEIC images

85 is a balanced starting point. Higher quality usually creates a larger JPG.

Fit preserves the aspect ratio. Enlargement is off by default.

JPG cannot retain transparency; this colour fills transparent pixels.

    THREE CLEAR STEPS

How to convert HEIC to JPG

    01

    Add your HEIC photos

Select files from your device or drag them into the workspace. The converter checks the file structure, blocks renamed or unsupported files and keeps accepted photos in a manageable batch.

    02

    Set quality and size

Keep the original dimensions or fit every image within your own limits. Choose a batch quality, then use the menu beside an individual file when one photo needs a smaller or higher-quality result.

    03

    Review and download

Conversion runs sequentially to control browser memory. Review each JPG’s dimensions and byte size, download it separately, or collect all successful results in one ZIP file.

    THE PRACTICAL ANSWER

What is HEIC, and why convert it to JPG?

HEIC is a common extension for High Efficiency Image File photos. Apple devices use it for efficient camera storage. HEIF is the wider container specification; HEIC usually means a HEIF image encoded with HEVC. A file’s internal brand matters more than its extension.

JPG is convenient for forms, content systems, print shops, marketplaces and desktop software that reject HEIC. Conversion creates a compatible copy; it cannot improve the source or recover missing detail.

    Choose a sensible JPG quality

A quality number guides the browser’s JPEG encoder; it is not a universal percentage of visual accuracy. Results vary with texture, lighting, noise, dimensions and the original compression.

    Starting valueUseful forCheck before keeping
70Compact previews, drafts and large batches where smaller downloads matter.Faces, fine hair, skies, text and strong edges for visible artefacts.
85A balanced starting point for everyday photos, websites and document uploads.View at the intended display size and compare the output bytes.
95Images where subtle detail matters more than a small file.Confirm the extra bytes create a meaningful visible improvement.

Quality 100 is not lossless and cannot recreate HEIC data. Test one representative image, inspect it at 100%, and choose the lowest setting that still looks right for its destination.

    CONTROL

    One queue, flexible results

Shared controls make a group consistent, while per-file quality prevents one difficult photograph from forcing every result to use a larger setting. Duplicate names receive safe numbered filenames automatically.

    PERFORMANCE

    Sequential, memory-aware work

HEIC decoding can be demanding. This converter processes one file at a time, releases temporary image resources and provides a Stop control. Practical pixel and batch limits help avoid freezing a mobile browser.

    PRIVACY

    Local image processing

The packaged decoder and browser canvas perform the work on your device. Selected photos are not posted to a conversion API. Downloads are generated as temporary local object URLs and cleared with the page.

    Resize HEIC photos without stretching

Phone cameras can create more pixels than a profile, article or form needs. Fit keeps both dimensions within your limits while preserving the aspect ratio, so the photo is not squeezed.

Upscaling is off because it adds pixels without restoring detail. JPG has no alpha channel, so the chosen background fills transparency found in compatible HEIF images.

    HEIC conversion limits worth knowing

A HEIC container can include several images, Live Photo motion, depth information and metadata. This tool exports the first decoded still; it does not recreate motion, depth effects or an editable library record.

Canvas export normally removes EXIF and location data, including capture details and GPS. Keep the original if your archive needs them. Colour may vary between decoders and displays, so inspect publishing, print or colour-critical output in its destination application.

    HEIC to JPG questions

Are HEIC and HEIF the same thing?

HEIF is the container; HEIC usually means HEIF imagery encoded with HEVC. This tool checks compatible internal brands, not only the extension.

Can I convert several iPhone photos together?

Yes. Add up to 20 files within the limits, apply shared settings, optionally change one row’s quality, then download JPGs or a ZIP.

    Does conversion upload my photos?

No conversion API receives them. The packaged decoder and browser generate the downloads locally.

    Will Live Photos stay animated?

No. JPG contains one still. Motion, image sequences and depth data are not preserved, so keep the original when those features matter.

Why can a JPG be larger than its HEIC source?

The formats compress differently. Compare the reported bytes, lower quality cautiously or resize to the dimensions actually needed.

Why might a valid HEIC fail?

Unusual profiles, damage, huge dimensions or limited memory can stop browser decoding. Try a smaller batch or export a compatible copy.
